Chapter 3
Not out of works. The washing of regeneration

Not out of works, the ones in righteousness which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through a washing of a regeneration and a renewing of Holy Spirit, which he poured-out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.

1 Remind them to be arranged-under to rules and jurisdictions, to be persuaded, to be ready toward every good work,

2 to blaspheme no one, to be unfighting, equitable, showing-in all meekness toward all men.

3 For we also once were unminded, unpersuaded, being led-astray, slaving to desires and various pleasures, leading-through in badness and envy, hated, hating one another.

4 And when the kindness and the love-of-man of our Savior God was manifested,

5 not out of works, the ones in righteousness which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through a washing of a regeneration and a renewing of Holy Spirit,

6 which he poured-out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

7 that, having been justified by that grace, we may become heirs according to a hope of age-long life.

8 Faithful is the word, and concerning these things I will you to firmly-affirm, that those having believed God may be anxious to stand-before good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

9 And foolish questionings and genealogies and strifes and fights-about-law stand-away from; for they are unprofitable and empty.

10 A heretical man after one and a second putting-in-mind refuse,

11 knowing that such a one has been turned-out and is sinning, being self-condemned.

12 Whenever I send Artemas toward you or Tychicus, be eager to come toward me into Nicopolis; for there I have judged to winter.

13 Zenas the lawyer and Apollos send-forward eagerly, that nothing may lack to them.

14 And let also our own ones learn to stand-before good works unto the necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful.

15 All those with me greet you. Greet those loving us in faith. The grace with all of you. Amen.
