Chapter 3

The things above. Put on the new

If therefore you were raised-with the Christ, seek the things above, where the Christ is, sitting at right of God. Think the things above, not the things upon the earth. For you died, and your life has been hidden with the Christ in God.

¹ If therefore you were raised-with the Christ, seek the things above, where the Christ is, sitting at right of God.

³ For you died, and your life has been hidden with the Christ in God.

⁴ Whenever the Christ, our life, is manifested, then also you with him will be manifested in glory.

⁵ Make-dead therefore the members, the ones upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and the greed, which is idolatry,

⁶ through which things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of the unpersuasion,

⁷ in which also you walked once, when you were living in these.

⁸ And now put-off also you all things: wrath, fury, badness, blasphemy, shameful-word out of your mouth.

⁹ Do not lie unto one another, having stripped the old man with his practices,

¹⁰ and having put-on the new, the one being renewed unto a full-knowledge according to image of the one having created him,

¹¹ where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free, but the all things and in all Christ.

¹² Put-on therefore, as chosen of God, holy and having-been-loved, inward-parts of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, long-temper,

¹³ holding-up one another and graciously-giving yourselves, if anyone has a blame toward anyone; according as also the Christ graciously-gave you, thus also you.

¹⁴ And upon all these the love, which is a bond of the completeness.

¹⁵ And let the peace of God umpire in your hearts, unto which also you were called in one body; and become thankful.

¹⁶ Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom teaching and putting yourselves in-mind in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, in grace singing in your heart to the Lord.

¹⁷ And everything, whatever you do in word or in work, all things in name of Lord Jesus, giving-thanks to the God and Father through him.

¹⁸ The wives, be arranged-under to the own husbands, as is fitting in Lord.

¹⁹ The husbands, love the wives and do not be bitter toward them.

²⁰ The children, obey the parents according to all things; for this is well-pleasing in Lord.

²¹ The fathers, do not provoke your children, that they may not be without-soul.

²² The slaves, obey according to all things the lords according to flesh, not in eye-slaveries as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God.

²³ And everything, whatever you do, work out of soul, as to the Lord and not to men,

²⁴ knowing that from Lord you will receive-back the repayment of the inheritance; for you slave to the Lord Christ.

²⁵ And the one treating-unjustly will carry-away what he treated-unjustly, and there is no receiving-of-face.
