Chapter 2

Fullness in him. Nailed the handwriting

Because in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you are ones having been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and jurisdiction.

¹ For I will you to know how great a struggle I have on behalf of you and of those in Laodicea and as many as have not seen my face in flesh,

² that their hearts may be called-alongside, they having been brought-together in love and unto all wealth of the full-carrying of the understanding, unto a full-knowledge of the mystery of God and Father and of the Christ,

³ in whom are all the treasures of the wisdom and of the knowledge hidden.

⁴ And this I say, that no one may reckon-aside you in persuasive-word.

⁵ For if even I am absent in the flesh, yet in the spirit I am with you, rejoicing and looking your order and the firmness of your faith unto Christ.

⁶ As therefore you received the Christ Jesus the Lord, in him walk,

⁷ having been rooted and being built-upon in him and being confirmed in the faith, according as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.

⁸ Look lest anyone will be the one leading you as prey through the philosophy and empty deceit, according to the giving-over of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ;

⁹ because in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,

¹⁰ and you are ones having been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and jurisdiction,

¹¹ in whom also you were circumcised with a circumcision not hand-made, in the putting-off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of the Christ,

¹² having been buried-with him in the baptism, in which also you were raised-with through the faith of the in-working of God, the one having raised him out of the dead.

¹³ And you, being dead in the falling-asides and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made alive-with with him, having graciously-given to us all the falling-asides,

¹⁴ having wiped-out the handwriting in the decrees, the one against us, which was contrary to us, and he has lifted it out of the midst, having nailed it to the cross;

¹⁵ having stripped the rules and the jurisdictions, he showed them in frankness, having triumphed them in it.

¹⁶ Let not anyone therefore judge you in eating or in drinking or in a part of a feast or of a new-moon or of sabbaths,

¹⁷ which are a shadow of the things about to be, and the body of the Christ.

¹⁸ Let no one umpire you down, willing in lowliness and worship of the angels, stepping-in which he has not seen, being puffed emptily by the mind of his flesh,

¹⁹ and not holding-fast the head, out of whom all the body, through the joints and bonds being supplied and being brought-together, grows the growth of God.

²⁰ If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why as living in world are you being dogmatized,

²¹ Do not touch, nor taste, nor handle,

²² which things are all unto corruption in the using-up, according to the commandments and teachings of men,

²³ which things are having a word indeed of wisdom in will-worship and lowliness and unsparing of body, not in any honor toward a filling of the flesh.
