Pentecost. This Jesus. Three thousand

God made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.

¹ And in the day of Pentecost being filled-full they were all with one accord upon the same.

² And suddenly there came to be out of the heaven a sound as of a violent breath being borne, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

³ And there were seen to them tongues being distributed as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.

⁴ And they were all filled of Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, just as the Spirit was giving them to utter.

⁵ And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, men pious from every nation of those under the heaven.

⁶ And this voice having come to be, the multitude came together and was poured-together, because they were hearing them speaking, each one in his own dialect.

⁷ And they were all amazed and marveling, saying toward one another, “Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

⁸ And how do we hear, each in our own dialect in which we were born—

⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those dwelling Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya toward Cyrene, and the sojourning Romans, Jews and proselytes,

¹¹ Cretans and Arabians—we hear them speaking in our tongues the great things of God.”

¹² And they were all amazed and thoroughly-at-a-loss, saying another toward another, “What does this wish to be?”

¹³ But others, mocking, were saying that “They are filled of sweet wine.”

¹⁴ But Peter, having stood with the eleven, lifted up his voice and uttered to them: “Men, Jews, and all those dwelling Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.

¹⁵ For these are not drunk, as you take it, for it is the third hour of the day;

¹⁶ but this is the thing having been said through the prophet Joel:

¹⁷ And it will be in the last days, says God, I will pour out from my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams;

¹⁸ and even upon my slaves and upon my slave-women in those days I will pour out from my Spirit, and they will prophesy.

¹⁹ And I will give wonders in the heaven above and signs upon the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke.

²⁰ The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord come.

²¹ And it will be that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

²² Men, Israelites, hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man from God having been demonstrated to you by powers and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—

²³ this one, given-up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, having taken, through lawless hands you fastened and took away;

²⁴ whom God raised, having loosed the birth-pains of death, inasmuch as it was not possible for him to be held under it.

²⁵ For David says toward him, I was seeing the Lord before me through all, because he is at my right, that I may not be shaken.

²⁶ Through this my heart was gladdened and my tongue exulted; and yet also my flesh will encamp upon hope,

²⁷ because you will not leave my soul into Hades, nor will you give your Holy One to see corruption.

²⁸ You made known to me ways of life; you will fill me of gladness with your face.

²⁹ Men, brothers, it is permitted to say with boldness toward you concerning the patriarch David, that he both came-to-an-end and was buried, and his tomb is among us until this day.

³⁰ Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God swore to him with an oath out of the fruit of his loin, according to flesh, to raise the Christ to sit upon his throne,

³¹ having seen beforehand he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left into Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

³² This Jesus God raised, of which we all are witnesses.

³³ Therefore, having been lifted to the right of God, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he poured out this which you now see and hear.

³⁴ For David did not go up into the heavens, but he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit out of my right

³⁵ until I place your enemies a footstool of your feet.

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know securely that God made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

³⁷ And having heard they were pierced to the heart, and said toward Peter and the remaining apostles, “What shall we do, men, brothers?”

³⁸ And Peter said toward them, “Repent, and let each of you be baptized upon the name of Jesus Christ unto forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

³⁹ For the promise is to you and to your children and to all those into far, as many as the Lord our God may call.”

⁴⁰ And with many other words he was thoroughly-witnessing and was calling-alongside, saying, “Be saved from this crooked generation.”

⁴¹ They therefore, having gladly received his word, were baptized; and there were added in that day souls about three thousand.

⁴² And they were continuing in the teaching of the apostles and in the fellowship and in the breaking of the bread and in the prayers.

⁴³ And fear came to be to every soul, and many wonders and signs were coming to be through the apostles.

⁴⁴ And all those believing were upon the same and were having all things common,

⁴⁵ and they were selling the possessions and the goods and were dividing them to all, according as anyone was having need.

⁴⁶ And according to day, continuing with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread according to house, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart,

⁴⁷ praising God and having favor toward the whole people. And the Lord was adding those being saved according to day to the assembly.
