The Beautiful Gate. The Holy One

Upon faith of his name, this one whom you behold and know, his name made strong.

¹ And Peter and John were going up into the temple upon the hour of the prayer, the ninth.

² And a certain man, being lame from his mother’s womb, was being borne, whom they were placing according to day toward the door of the temple, the one being called Beautiful, to ask alms from those going into the temple;

³ who, having seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, was asking to receive alms.

⁴ And Peter, having gazed into him with John, said, “Look into us.”

⁵ And he was holding to them, expecting to receive something from them.

⁶ And Peter said, “Silver and gold do not belong to me; but what I have, this I give to you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, rise up and walk.”

⁷ And having seized him by the right hand he raised him; and immediately his bases and ankles were made firm.

⁸ And leaping up he stood and was walking, and he entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.

⁹ And all the people saw him walking and praising God;

¹⁰ and they were recognizing him, that this was the one sitting toward the alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled of amazement and ecstasy upon the thing having come to be to him.

¹¹ And the lame one who was healed holding Peter and John, all the people ran together toward them upon the porch being called Solomon’s, utterly-amazed.

¹² And Peter, having seen, answered toward the people: “Men, Israelites, why do you marvel upon this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we have made him to walk?

¹³ The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his child Jesus, whom you gave over and denied according to the face of Pilate, that one having judged to release him.

¹⁴ But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked a man, a murderer, to be granted to you,

¹⁵ and you killed the Originator of life, whom God raised out of dead ones, of which we are witnesses.

¹⁶ And upon faith of his name, this one whom you behold and know, his name made strong; and the faith that is through him gave to him this wholeness before you all.

¹⁷ And now, brothers, I know that according to ignorance you acted, as also your rulers.

¹⁸ But God, the things he announced beforehand through the mouth of all his prophets, that the Christ should suffer, fulfilled thus.

¹⁹ Repent therefore and turn for your sins to be wiped out, so that times of refreshing may come from the face of the Lord,

²⁰ and he may send the one having been appointed-beforehand for you, Christ Jesus,

²¹ whom heaven must receive until times of restoration of all things, of which God spoke through the mouth of all his holy prophets from the age.

²² For Moses indeed said toward the fathers that A prophet the Lord your God will raise up to you out of your brothers, as me; him you will hear according to all things, as many as he may speak toward you.

²³ And it will be that every soul, whoever does not hear that prophet, will be utterly-destroyed out of the people.

²⁴ And also all the prophets from Samuel and those in order, as many as spoke, also announced these days.

²⁵ You are sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God covenanted toward our fathers, saying toward Abraham, And in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed.

²⁶ To you first God, having raised his child, sent him blessing you, in the turning away each one from your evils.”

2 Note — v. 20. TR: τὸν προκεχειρισμένον ὑμῖν. “the one having been appointed-beforehand for you.”

3 Note — v. 26. TR: τὸν παῖδα αὐτοῦ. “his child,” not “Servant” flattened.
