Chapter 5

New creation. Change-toward. Made sin

So that if anyone is in Christ, a new creation; the ancient things passed; behold, the all things have become new.

¹ For we know that if our earthly house of the tent is loosed-down, we have a building out of God, a house not hand-made, age-long in the heavens.

² For also in this we groan, longing to put-on-over our dwelling, the one out of heaven,

³ if indeed also having put-on we will not be found naked.

⁴ For also we who are in the tent groan, being weighed, inasmuch as we do not will to put-off but to put-on-over, that the mortal may be swallowed by the life.

⁵ And the one having worked us down unto this same thing is God, the one also having given us the earnest of the Spirit.

⁶ Being of-good-courage therefore always, and knowing that being at-home in the body we are away-from-home from the Lord —

⁷ for through faith we walk, not through appearance —

⁸ and we are of-good-courage and think-well rather to be away-from-home out of the body and to be at-home toward the Lord.

⁹ Wherefore also we are honor-loving, whether being at-home or being away-from-home, to be well-pleasing to him.

¹⁰ For it is necessary for all us to be manifested before the judgment-seat of the Christ, that each may carry-away the things through the body, toward what he practiced, whether good or bad.

¹¹ Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, and we have been manifested to God; and I hope also to have been manifested in your consciences.

¹² For we do not again stand ourselves together to you, but giving you a starting-point of boast on behalf of us, that you may have toward those boasting in face and not in heart.

¹³ For whether we were beside-ourselves, it is to God; whether we are of-sound-mind, it is to you.

¹⁴ For the love of the Christ holds us together, having judged this, that if one died on behalf of all, then the all died;

¹⁵ and he died on behalf of all, that the ones living may no longer live to themselves but to the one having died on behalf of them and having been raised.

¹⁶ So that we from the now know no one according to flesh; and if even we have known Christ according to flesh, yet now we no longer know.

¹⁷ So that if anyone is in Christ, a new creation; the ancient things passed; behold, the all things have become new.

¹⁸ And the all things out of God, the one having changed us toward himself through Jesus Christ and having given to us the service of the change-toward,

¹⁹ as that God was in Christ changing a world toward himself, not reckoning their falls-aside to them, and having placed in us the word of the change-toward.

²⁰ On behalf of Christ therefore we are elders, as of God calling-alongside through us; we beg on behalf of Christ, Be changed toward God.

²¹ For the one not having known sin he made sin on behalf of us, that we might become righteousness of God in him.
