Chapter 10

Weapons not fleshly. The measure

For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful to God toward a taking-down of strongholds, taking-down reasonings and every height being lifted-up against the knowledge of God.

¹ And I myself, Paul, call you alongside through the meekness and fairness of the Christ, who according to face am lowly among you, and being absent am of-good-courage toward you;

² and I beg the not being present to be of-good-courage with the confidence with which I reckon to dare upon some, the ones reckoning us as walking according to flesh.

³ For walking in flesh, we do not war according to flesh;

⁴ for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful to God toward a taking-down of strongholds,

⁵ taking-down reasonings and every height being lifted-up against the knowledge of God, and taking-captive every thought unto the obedience of the Christ,

⁶ and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, whenever your obedience is filled.

⁷ The things according to face you look. If anyone has trusted to himself to be of Christ, let him reckon this again from himself, that according as he is of Christ, thus also we of Christ.

⁸ For even if I boast somewhat more abundantly concerning our jurisdiction, which the Lord gave us unto a building and not unto a taking-down of you, I will not be shamed,

⁹ that I may not seem as if to frighten you through the letters.

¹⁰ Because the letters, he says, are heavy and strong, and the presence of the body is weak, and the word having been counted-as-nothing.

¹¹ Let such a one reckon this, that of what sort we are in word through letters being absent, such also being present in work.

¹² For we do not dare to judge-in or to judge-together ourselves to some of those standing themselves together; but they, measuring themselves in themselves and judging themselves together to themselves, do not understand.

¹³ And we will not boast into the unmeasured things, but according to the measure of the canon which God portioned to us, a measure to reach even until you.

¹⁴ For we do not over-stretch ourselves as not reaching unto you; for even until you we arrived-before in the gospel of the Christ,

¹⁵ not boasting into the unmeasured things in others’ labors, and having hope, your faith increasing, to be made great in you according to our canon unto abundance,

¹⁶ unto the gospelizing the things beyond you, not in another’s canon unto the things ready to boast.

¹⁷ And the one boasting, let him boast in Lord.

¹⁸ For not the one standing himself together is approved, but whom the Lord stands together.
