Chapter 2

Pray for all. One mediator. Quietness

For one God, one also mediator of God and of men, a man Christ Jesus, the one having given himself a corresponding-ransom on behalf of all, the testimony in own seasons.

¹ I call-alongside therefore first of all to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, on behalf of all men,

² on behalf of kings and all those being in superiority, that we may lead a quiet and still life in all godliness and solemnity.

³ For this is good and acceptable before our Savior God,

⁴ who wills all men to be saved and to come unto a full-knowledge of truth.

⁵ For one God, one also mediator of God and of men, a man Christ Jesus,

⁶ the one having given himself a corresponding-ransom on behalf of all, the testimony in own seasons,

⁷ unto which I was placed a herald and an apostle — I say truth in Christ, I do not lie — a teacher of nations in faith and truth.

⁸ I will therefore the men to pray in every place, lifting holy hands apart from wrath and reasoning.

⁹ Likewise also the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged covering-down, with shame and sound-mind, not in braids or gold or pearls or exceedingly-costly clothing,

¹⁰ but which is becoming to women announcing-godliness through good works.

¹¹ Let a woman learn in quietness in all arranging-under;

¹² and I do not permit a woman to teach nor to have jurisdiction of a man, but to be in quietness.

¹³ For Adam was formed first, thereafter Eve;

¹⁴ and Adam was not deceived, and the woman, having been thoroughly-deceived, has come to be in a stepping-aside;

¹⁵ and she will be saved through the childbearing, if they remain in faith and love and holiness with sound-mind.
